BOTANICAL BLUE

Botanicals · Sunlight · Textile

Discover the magic of cyanotype - a historic photographic process that uses sunlight to create beautiful botanical impressions on fabric.

Participants begin by exploring the fascinating history of cyanotype before composing their own textile artwork using a curated collection of botanicals. Leaves, ferns, flowers and other natural forms are arranged directly on sensitized fabric, allowing each participant to create a composition that is entirely their own.

Once the composition is complete, the textile is exposed to sunlight, where the magic happens. When the botanicals are removed and the fabric is rinsed, the distinctive Prussian blue image is revealed, often with delicate variations in tone and detail that make every piece one of a kind.

No artistic or botanical experience is necessary. Just bring your curiosity and an appreciation for nature.
